Excellent piece by Larison. Unfortunately, the American Conservative does not have much influence over conservative movers and shakers, at least not anything like that exercised by the Weekly Standard or the WSJ editorial page. The Buchananites are already on board against confrontation with Iran. But their influence pales beside that of the Republican Party establishment and the neocons. Still, I do believe that a majority of the American people will eventually turn against a policy of confrontation, and that the Republican Party will be compelled to follow the voters' lead. Course, I didn't think the Bush administration was lying about Iraq's WMD. So don't bet the farm on this particular prediction of mine!
