A NOTE TO OUR READERS

Some of our readers have written to ask about media stories indicating that the New America Foundation, which has supported the launching and operation of www.TheRaceForIran.com and where Flynt Leverett is a Senior Research Fellow, has been included in a list of institutions and organizations in the United States and other countries that Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence reportedly says are subversive.  We are not authorized to speak for the New America Foundation.  For ourselves, we would say, first of all, that we are grateful for the support that the New America Foundation has provided for our work on this blog.   We would also say that, in our work, we have tried to offer the most objective possible analysis of the Islamic Republic and its geopolitics and their implications for American interests and U.S. foreign policy.  And that is what we will continue to try to do, whether some in the United States, Iran, or elsewhere like it or not.

It is obvious that the culture in Iranian security related department like the judiciary or intelligence ministry are highly suspicious since the revolution which had no sympathy in the rest of the world. This was bonded due to the war and the long lasting regime change agenda from US.

Maybe they became so paranoid that lead them to think it is a trick like the smile of Mr Obama. So they think it is a part of soft war to lead the opposition thinking if they making problem it has no influence of US position. Indeed some of the opposition lost his discipline thinking there is no more threats from the west. If this is US policy and strategy it will fail and damage US interest, another weak central governments will only create more opportunity for the terrorists.

Most American sites are in favour of Israel and biased against Iran however, your site represents a balanced and fair analysis of the situation.

In my opinion, attacking Iran will have catastrophic consequences.

I hope president Obama studies your site and learns a few lessons and realises that in the age of satellite and internet, brainwashing the international public opinion through media does not work anymore.

what matters most is the truth and soon or later the public will call the governments bluff and find out about the truth.

The memories of the Bush’s propaganda and lies about Sadam’s WMD are still fresh in people’s mind and I hope and pray that for the sake of humanity Obama does not succumb to AIPAC’s power and attacks Iran.

I wouldn’t be too worried about what Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence has to say. It has no cred in the U.S. Given that this site favors engagement and strategic partnership with Iran (even under the current regime), the idea that you are trying to “subvert” the government is absurd.

You might want to respond instead to the remarks made by Ken Timmermann on C-Span this morning. Timmermann accused F.L. of “spreading lies” about Iran’s willingness to cooperate with the U.S. after 9/11. A serious accusation, and one that might very well be actionable. Personally, I wouldn’t allow Timmermann to get away with using the word “lies.”
